Hamid has researched in the area of scholarly communication, including evaluation and performance both at the individual and institutional levels, and communication of research. He has also explored information behaviour and needs of different user groups. Currently, he is undertaking research on scholarly communication of early career researchers with implications for academic libraries and their research support services. He plans to continue his research in the area of scholarly communication, including research evaluation and performance that can inform the practice of academic libraries and researchers as end-users of his findings.
