A critical investigation into gap between health libraries’ expectations and early career health librarians’ skills and knowledge - Libraries Research Group at Charles Sturt University

The proposed study aims to identify the gap between health libraries’ expectations and the actual competence of early career health librarians, particularly that of fresh graduates. Adopting a qualitative approach, data collection is done by onsite observations and interviews with health library managers, librarians, and fresh graduates in NSW and Victoria. Upon identifying and analysing the skills gap, some recommendations will be provided to universities providing Library and Information Studies (LIS) education in Australia, to make sure of the increase of links and relevance between the curriculum and workplace expectations.
