The qualitative research project aims to identify the gap between universities’ expectations of library learning support and academic librarians’ pedagogical competence. It is expected that the outcome will be of two components. The first component is identification and acknowledgement of the current skills and expertise of librarians. The second component will be identification of areas requiring improvements, particularly in terms of librarians’ teaching and learning competence. A recommendation on how librarians’ pedagogical skills can be developed in the most effective manner will be provided.
